Eloise Phillips McIntyre
Mrs. McIntyre, 82, of Matthews passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Carrington Place.
The family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Matthews. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church with The Reverend Dr. Greg Dills and Reverend Stanley Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mrs. McIntyre was born March 22, 1927 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Foard Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Vaughn McIntyre. Mrs. McIntyre attended Bain High School where she graduated as Salutatorian in 1944. She was a graduate of Carolina Business College and worked as a secretary with Chapman - Harkey Co. for over six years. Mrs. McIntyre will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an active member of The Arc of Mecklenburg Auxiliary, the Ladies Auxiliary of Earp - Williams VFW Post 4059 in Mint Hill, and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Matthews.
Survivors include her children, Larry McIntyre (Carolyn), David McIntyre (Kathy), and Denise McIntyre; siblings, Rachel Tweed, Thelma Campbell, Jates Phillips (Grace), Jeanette Driggers, Frances Kiser (Bob) and Gladys Suggs (Bob); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
