Mr. Dennis " Jack " R. Kirby , Jr., 63, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 3, 2000 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel, 727 E. Morehead. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel.
Mr. Kirby was born February 2, 1937 in Charlotte, NC. He was the son of John Lee Kirby and Jessie Crain Kirby. Mr. Kirby was employed at Pet Dairy for 17 years and retired from Ruth Salads after 15 years. He was an Army veteran. Jack was a friend to everyone he met. He loved and admired God's creations from the birds in his backyard, to the North Carolina mountains and beaches. He was a true child at heart, when it came to the Christmas trees and lights. Everything had to be just right. He will be truly missed but of course never forgotten.
"Peeper" to his grandsons, Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Ray and his wife, Bonnie; grandsons, Corey and Clayton, all of Indian Trail, NC; mother, Jessie Crain Kirby of Charlotte, NC; brother, Paul Douglas Kirby , Sr. of Mint Hill, NC; nephews, Paul Douglas Kirby , Jr., and Johnny Kirby of Mint Hill, NC, Glenn Kirby , Jr. of Charlotte, NC; niece, Vicky Stamey of Mint Hill, NC.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Lee Kirby; and two brothers, Harold Eugene Kirby and Glenn Edward Kirby Sr.
