Mr. Lewis , 64, of Charlotte passed away November 15, 2006. He was born May 27, 1942 in Charlotte, NC the son of Elizabeth F. and the late George R. Lewis , Jr.
Mr. Lewis graduated from Grainger High School in 1960. He worked for Bradshaw and Hayes flooring until 1992. He finished his career running Lewis Flooring services with his son Rodney as his partner.
George will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 17, 2006 at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel, officiated by the Reverend Lawrence Owenby. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2006 at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel.
George is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rebecca Black Lewis and his nephew, Phillip Black, of the home; his two sons, Dwayne Lewis and wife, Vickie, and Rodney Lewis ; his mother, Elizabeth Flow Lewis of Charlotte; his two sisters, Brenda Starnes and husband, Pete, and Joyce Pierce and husband, Frank, all of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 23065, Charlotte, NC 28227.
