Daniel Paul Hawkins, son of George and Stacy Hawkins, was born near Busby, Kansas, December 26, 1921. He spent his early childhoood in the Busby community, later moving to Elk Falls, where he grew to manhood and obtained most of his schooling.

The family and many friends will remember Daniel as being a clean up-right boy in his community. He has left a vacancy in our midst which none other can fill.

Pvt. Daniel P. Hawkins joined the United States Army and recieved his infantry training at Camp Fanning, Texas, during the fall and winter of 1944 and 1945. He was sent as a replacement to Germany shortly after the Battle of the Bulge and was killed in action against the enemy March 16, 1945.

NARA War Department records list this soldiers Home of Record as Sedgwick County, Kansas...Killed In Action.
