Obituary for William Smith

WILLIAM SMITH

William Smith, aged 82, died Wednesday evening at his home in Negley, death following an extended illness of complications. He was a veteran of the Civil War, a member of Mount Zion Church and Negley Masonic Lodge.

Deceased was born in Gallia County but came to this county at an early age. He enlisted in 1862 at Beaver and served throughout the war. He was wounded twice and was taken prisoner at Plymouth, N.C., and served eight months in Andersonville Prison.

He leaves his widow and the following children: Alvah C., East Liverpool; Demoine, Grimm's Bridge; Mrs. Harry Green, Fredericktown; Everard U., Carrollton; Harlin J., East Liverpool; Edward R., Fredericktown; Mrs. Bessie Kelly, East Liverpool; and Mrs. Mary Thompson, Fredericktown.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be made in Mount Zion Cemetery.
