Charles Loren Cohee Jr., lovingly known as "Charlie" or chuck passed away after a gallant battle with cancer Friday, November 14, 2008, at the Wilson Medical Center – Reece Campus. He was 71. We know his loving wife Dianne was there to take his hand and are comforted to know they are now reunited.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008, in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. VFW Post 5962 will provide military honors.

Friends may call to view and register Monday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.

The son of Charles Loren and Cleo (Kebert) Cohee Sr., he was born June 23, 1937, in Neodesha, KS. He received his GED from Neodesha High School.

Mr. Cohee served in the US Navy from 1954-58, receiving an honorable discharge.

In February of 1956, he was united in marriage to Luana Bush in San Francisco, CA. They were later divorced. He married Dianne Howard on July 5, 1968, in Berkley, CA. She preceded him in death July 12, 2007.

For 24 years, Mr. Cohee was a charter bus driver for Peerless Stages of Oakland, CA. Charles was also employed for many years with the Neodesha school system where he made many lifetime friends. He was a very caring, generous man who was truly loved by all. He was known to be a meticulous hard worker, especially when it came to mowing. Time with family and friends was everything to Charles and he enjoyed being with his nephews and "little bit" Alex. Charles and Dianne were the heartbeat of the Cohee family and were legendary for their celebrations at Christmas and July 4th at the farm. Charles loved burger night at Bumpy's and spent every Friday night he could with a special circle of friends lovingly referred to as "the gang". He looked forward to Sunday morning coffee with the brothers and the time spent with Anthony, Roxy and the boys.

He was a life member of VFW Post 5962.

Survivors include one son, Donald Ray Cohee of Salt Lake City, UT; one daughter Judi Cohee Scott of Salt Lake City, UT; his mother-in-law, Fran Howard; six brothers, Elmer "Shorty", Tony and his wife Carol, Frank and Dot, and Sam, all of Neodesha, Ronald and his wife Vicky of Conway, AR, and Steve and his wife Deborah of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilson Medical Center Foundation.
