Thelma Y. Caven, 90, of Neodesha, Kansas passed away Monday evening, April 9, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha.

Visitation hours for Thelma will be on Thursday, April 12, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel, Neodesha, Kansas.

Funeral services for Thelma Y. Caven will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2007 at the First Christian Church, Neodesha, Kansas with Reverend Robert Agee and Reverend Jim Bell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the First Christian Church.

Burial will follow at the Neodesha City Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the First Christian Church, 702 Wisconsin, Neodesha, Kansas and the Wilson County Hospital Foundation. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.

Thelma was born September 01, 1916 in Lamar, Missouri to her parents Walter and Nelle Yoho. She was raised and educated in Fort Scott, Kansas graduating in 1934 from Fort Scott High School.

On September 01, 1934, Thelma married Ellis Roberts and they made thier home in Neodesha in 1935. They later divorced. On May 30, 1968, Thelma married Ralph Caven and he preceded her in death.

Thelma began her career in retail dry goods in 1944. She later worked for Beulah Kile Ready-to-Wear and purchased the business in 1954. She sold the store in 1981, retiring from the retail clothing business after 37 years. Thelma was a member of the First Christian Church, Neodesha, Kansas.

Thelma is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Laverty of Independence, Kansas and Nancy Dawson of Leavenworth, Kansas; one brother, Ralph Yoho; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by two stepsons, Terry Caven of Athens, Georgia and J.D. Caven of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and five step grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
