Ray L. R. Garrett age 82 of Neodesha, Kansas died Monday, March 25, 2002 at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas

Ray was born September 13, 1919 in Taney County, Missouri to Lloyd W. and Elizabeth (McNamara) Garrett. He grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and graduated from the Neodesha High School. Ray then graduated from the University of Kansas Pharmacy School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On March 2, 1954 Ray married Genevieve Mong and they made their home in Neodesha, Kansas. Ray ran the Klayder-Garrett Pharmacy in Neodesha, Kansas from 1946 to 1987 when he retired. Ray was a member of the Neodesha United Methodist Church, The Lions Club and the VFW.

Survivors include two daughters Mary Olive of Neodesha, Kansas and Jane Garrett of Lawrence, Kansas; one son John Garrett of Independence, Kansas; one granddaughter Katharine Olive of Neodesha, Kansas; two sisters Patsy McGaugh of Independence, Kansas and Jene Asmussen of Neodesha, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve, two brothers Carl and Max, One sister Gussie, his parents and one aunt Mollie Devlin.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Neodesha Cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.

Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.

The family has suggested memorials to the W. A. Rankin Memorial Library and contributions may be left at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home
