Neodesha Register 10/20/1966 - Obit - CLYDE BOWERS Suffers Fatal Heart Attack - Clyde Bowers, 71, 817 N. 8th, died at 11:45 p.m., Sunday at the Wilson County Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Clyde William Bowers, son of Ura G. and Stella (Helbert) Bowers, was born July 23, 1895 in Neodesha. He was married to Elsie L. Ruch at Claflin, KS July 22, 1923. He lived in Moreland, OK, Corwin and Ulysses, KS and returned to Neodesha at the time of his retirement in 1960.
He is survived by one daughter, Miss Shirley Bowers , of the home; one son, Russell W. Bowers, Olney,IL; two grandchildren, Kim and Brenda Bowers, Olney,IL; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Faye) Jacoby, Wichita, Miss Ruth Bowers, Muskogee,OK and Mrs. Guy (Thelma) Snedaker, Ottawa; and on brother, Bruce A. Bowers, Harper, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 25, 1959 and a daughter, Janet Elaine, October 3, 1931. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Neodesha Methodist Church, Harmony Lodge No. 94, A.F. & A.M. and Neodesha Eastern Star chapter No. 29. He was a World War I veteran, serving in the Army ambulance corps. He worked at the Neodesha refinery until 1929, then began working for the Cities Service Company until he retired in July 1960. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Neodesha Methodist Church under the direction of the Loean Fawcett Funeral Home. The Rev. A. Otis Beach officated. Interment was at Neodesha Cemetery. Casket bearers were Clarence McCullough, Earl Starr, Roy Hush, Jack Kammerer, Harry Kingston and Kermit Tincknell. Mrs. Bill Jensen, Mrs. Amos Russell and Mrs. Otis Beach sang "Beyond the Sunset". Mrs. Ray Holmberg was organist. At the graveside services, Sgt. Don Armstrong and Leon Fawcett folded the American flag and Sgt. Armstrong presented it to Miss Shirley Bowers. Out of town relatives attending were M/M Russell Bowers and daughters, Kim and Brenda, Olney,IL; M/M Arthur Jacoby and son, Don, M/M Earl Songer, Wichita; Miss Ruth Bowers, Muskogee,OK; M/M Guy Snedaker, Ottawa; M/M Bruce A. Bowers, Harper,IA. Among the out of town friends attending were M/M Norman Polson, M/M boyd Oliver, Mrs. Robert Byrd, M/M John Moore, M/M George East, Mrs Lester Hill, Mrs. Margaret Coflisch, M/M W.J. constant, oll of Independence; Marvin Flater, Wilford Danielson, Emporia; M/M William Weallthall, Caney.
