Mrs. Helen Canchola, age 88 of Globe Ariz., passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Ariz. Helen was born in Hachita, N.M. on July 28, 1921, daughter of Jesus and Josefa Roman.
Helen moved to Arizona in 1938 from Texas. She was a resident of Arizona for 72 years. She began working as a waitress at Uptons and then was the local owner of Helen's Beauty Shop. She was very active in many aspects at Holy Angels Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic minister. She loved studying and participating in Catholic history and church events.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Canchola in 1992, and her daughter, Mary Canchola.
She is survived by her son, Tony Canchola, Jr. (Barbara) of Chandler, Ariz. Services were held on May 3 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami. Interment is at Globe Cemetery. Assisting the family is Lamont Mortuary.
