Sherry Lynn Aday, 57, of Sheffield, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 24, 2005, after an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Colbert County. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 26, from 6-9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, in the funeral home chapel, with burial in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother T.A. Duke is officiating.

Sherry worked in early years as a beautician but later did private duty as a sitter for the sick and even later found enjoyment in caring for young children.

Sherry was a member of Hook Street Baptist Church, where she accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized more than 30 years ago. She was a loving and caring person who had taken care of her mother for more than a decade and even while she became ill, remained steadfast in caring for her mother in her own home.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Hurn and Edith Pauline Rutherford.

She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Floyd; her two sons, (ed.-living); one precious grandson, (ed.-lving); and one sister, (ed.-living); a number of nieces, nephews, special aunts; and an abundant host of friends and loved ones. Everyone who knows her will forever keep her in their hearts. She was a beautiful and special gal.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Beaver, Kevin Aday, Jimmy Ledlow, Tony Logan, Johnny Inman and Jeff Inman.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
