William John Baker Jr., 63, Hillsdale and a former longtime resident of Craryville, N.Y. died on Wednesday December 13, 2006 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1943 in Kew Gardens, Queens the son of the late William and Alice (Deneke) Baker. Mr. Baker had formerly been employed by Murray Cousins as a boat mechanic at the Copake Lake Marina. He also did carpentry work while employed by Milton McIntyre. He was a member of the former West Copake Fire Company and served his country with the United States Army from 1961 – 1962. Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Dougherty Baker of Hillsdale; a son and daughter in law, William J. Baker III and Tasha Baker of Craryville; a daughter, Alice Joan Baker of Stottville and a daughter and son in law, Mary Marie Gearing and David Gearing of East Chatham. Also survived by five grandchildren, William J. Baker IV, Christina Marie Baker, Maryelizabeth Baker, Christianna Gearing and Brandon Gearing. Additionally, two sisters Alice L. Gremlich and Frances D. Champagne both of Queens, N.Y. Interment will be held at a later date in the Niver Cemetery, Craryville.
