Delta County resident Jane Dora Dunkle passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2016 at San Juan Living Center, surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.

She was born July 6, 1937, to Harry Nissen and Jessie Gibb in Denver, Colorado. She spent her childhood between Denver and California and graduated from Hayward High School in 1954 and continued with her college education.

On October 15, 1960 Jane said “I Do” to the love of her life, Melvin Dunkle. The ceremony took place in Denver, Colorado. From this union three children were born.

Jane was a proud worker for the Delta County Memorial Hospital. She worked there for 31 years. Apart from working, Jane’s interest focused on scrapbooking, gardening, housecleaning, reading, putting puzzles together and fishing.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Melvin Dunkle.

She is survived by her son, Scott Dunkle, of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughters: Laurie Lucas, of Eckert, and Tammy Comier, of Montrose; brother, Richard Nissen, of AR; nephew, Steve Woodson, of CA; three grandchildren: Cade Sweeny, Kristen Dunkle and Adam Dunkle; great-niece, Jessica Strandberg and her son, Brody Woodson; and great-nephew, Jason Woodson.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Cedaredge Cemetery in Cedaredge, Colorado.
