Motion Picture Producer. Lawrence Darmour was born in Flushing Queens, New York to James F.Darmour and Julia Ducey on January 8, 1895. In 1912 when he was 17 years old he began a career with the French film company Gaumont Newsreel in New York City as their first American cameraman and would later work for the Selznik Newsreel group. He also served in the Press Unit under General Pershing during World War I. In 1921 he married Alice Whittaker of California. Later in 1925 Darmour would move to Hollywood where he launched his own motion picture studio, Larry Darmour Productions. Among the films produced by the studio were the Ellery Queen series, The Scarlet Letter and The Sin of Nora Moran. He also cast child actor, Mickey Rooney (whom Larry discovered), in the Mickey McGuire comedy series which ran from 1927 to 1934.
