Joe Cardenas, age 85, born Aug. 7, 1924 in Oracle, AZ to Ponciano and Cresencia Cardenas, passed away in Globe, AZ. He served his country proudly in the US Army during World War II and was awarded a bronze star. He worked as a local labor worker. He was preceded in death by his sister Isabella Gonzales, his brother Ralph Cruz, and his sisters Josephine, Irene and Victor Cardenas.

Joe is survived by his sons Joe Riechelt of CA, Harold of WA and Victor Braffith of HI.

The service will be held Feb. 19 at 10:00 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church followed by the interment at Globe Cemetery.

JOE GALVAN CARDENAS, age 85, of Globe, passed away February 9, 2010 in Globe. He was a longtime laborer in Globe, a Bronze Star Medal receipient in the Army, and a longtime gravedigger for both Walker's and Palmer's Mortuary.

Rosary will be Friday, February 19th at 9:00AM with Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe. Interment will be in Globe Cemetery with military honors.

Joe Galvan Cardenas, 85, of Globe, Ariz., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2010 at his residence in Globe. He was born on Aug. 7, 1924 in Oracle, Ariz., the son of Ponciano and Cresencia Cardenas.

He was a laborer and a lifetime Arizona resident. He proudly served in World War II with the U.S. Army, earning a bronze star. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his sister, Isabella Gonzales; and brothers, Ralph and Cruz Cardenas.

He is survived by his sons, Joe Riechelt, Harold Braffith and Victor Braffith; daughter, Carren Marquez; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Josephine Cardenas, Irene Cardenas, Isabel Cardenas, Victor Cardenas and Ralph and Cruz Cardenas.

Rosary will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe, Ariz. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment at Globe Cemetery.
