DAVIS, George Hartwell -- Of Flushing, age 68, died Sunday, January 8, 1984, in Ypsilanti. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday at the Sharp Funeral Home, Swartz Creek, Rev. Peter Russell officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Old Newsboys. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-9 PM Tuesday. Mr. Davis was born in Texas on March 29, 1915, the son of Sarah and Dr. Samuel J. Davis and had lived in Flushing the last 12 years, moving there from Swartz Creek. He married Lavinia King in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy and retired in 1977 from the Flint Journal with 25 years service. Surviving are: wife Lavinia; 3 children, Sarah and husband Ted Kasprzak of Rankin; Carolyn and husband Lee Pelton of Flint and William and wife Jan Davis of Utah; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; several nieces and nephews.
