Gaylord Bradford was the youngest of 3 children, born in Fairfield, IA. When one year old, his family moved to Maury Island, WA. After 2 yrs, they moved to St. Joseph, MO where he grew to adulthood. He joined the Army and was stationed in Ft. Worden, WA and attended the School for Cooks and Bakers in the Presidio, San Francisco, CA. He was discharged in 1926, and returned to St. Joseph where he worked in various jobs, including the Muller and Keller Candy Co and the Chase Candy Co. He married Nora Andrews but they were divorce in early 1932. He moved to Hutchinson, KS and worked for his brother-in-law, C. Ewing King at the Coal and Ice Co. He married Dorothy Snodgrass on Oct 3, 1933, and they moved to one of the Snodgrass farms in Reno Co., KS. To them was born one child, a girl, Patti. It was the depression and Gaylord held several jobs. In 1940 he was a baker for Dillon's Grocery Store when he contracted pneumonia. He was in the hospital in in oxygen tent. He returned to his baker's job too soon and got the flour dust in his weak lungs. He eventually became a victum of emphysema, of which he died in 1955. He held various jobs, and lived in various locations trying to find the right place where he could breathe. He, along with his family moved to Long Beach, CA after the war, and there they bought a home and he helped out with his daughter and with the running of the household, as he was unable to work. His wife worked for the family, which he really hated but they all worked together for the good of the family. The smog in Los Angeles County in the summer of 1955 took a toll on him and he passed away in October, 1955.
