William Arthur Cash, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Cash was born in Johnson County, Mo. Feb 11, 1870.
He came to Illinois with his father and was reared in Millersburg township, Mercer County. His father died when he was a small boy.
On May 30, 1893, he was married to Miss Amy Bridger, and from this union were born six children; Fred M., Meryle Tary, Sarah E Swanson of Viola; Clair of Duquoin; and Leo A of Galesburg. A son George H died in infancy.
The family resided in Mercer and Knox counties until Jan, 1927 when they removed to Mexico, Mo. where they remained until a few weeks ago when, because of the failing health of Mr Cash, they returned to Illinois to the home of their daughrter, Mrs Clark Swanson where he passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 1933 at 1 p.m. He was aged 63 years, 3 mo. and 9 days. His parents, a brother and sister preceded him in death.
Surviving to mourn his departure are the widow and five children, a brother Charles, and sister Mrs. Nettie Wood of Los Angeles, Calif., and the following grandchildren: LaJune, Kenneth, Marian, and Doris Cash, Roger Cash and Robert Tray, Bruce and John Swanson and Junior and Darold Cash.
Funeral services were held from the Swanson home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Aug 22 in charge of Rev. J R Kesterson, pastor of the Federated Church. The service of song was by Miss Veda Masker who sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". The casket bearers were Henry and James Bridger, Theodore McKnight, Fred McLaughlin, Clarence McLaughlin, and Lawrence Smith.
The internment was in the Bridger Cemetery south of Viola.
