Sidney is the son of Ulysses "U.S." Sidney Grant Myers (b. 1864, d. 1937) and Martha "Mattie" Catherine Smith (b. 1881, d. 1973).

Sidney married Geraldine Marian Sykes (b. 1910, d. 2000), daughter of Walter Eugene Sykes (b. 1886, d. 1951) and Marian Jassamine Wall (b. 1891, d. 1956).

Geraldine is the granddaughter of William "Uncle Billie" James Sykes (b. 1854, d. 1955), a Wiyot, who was one of the survivors of the Indian Island Massacre in Eureka, Humboldt Co., California.

Sidney and Geraldine had five children: Sidney Grant Jr. (b. 1928, d. 1996); Marian "Sue" Patricia (b. 1929); Joseph Carlton (b. 1932, d. 1988); Robert Leon (b. 1935, d. 1997) and Kenneth Wayne (b. 1937).

Of interest is that their daughter, Marian "Sue" Patricia Myers married Frederic "Fred" William Kay who father, William Delbert Kay, bought the section of the island where the majority of Wiyot were killed. Fred Kay later sold that section of land back to the Table Bluff Wiyot for historical preservation.
