Mrs. Frances Mabel James, 70-year-old Fortuna resident, died Monday morning in a Eureka hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. James was born in Molalla, Ore., March 5, 1885, and resided in California for more than 40 years, since 1948 in Fortuna. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include her husband, Halley Monroe James of Fortuna; a son, Clyde Willis Brewer of San Francisco; two grandchildren, Donna Mae Brewer of San Francisco, Mrs. Doreen Rae Dillon of Los Angeles; one great-grandchild, Alaris Desirree Dillon of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Mottley of Eureka; a nephew, Arthur Frost of Scotial and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary with James Lantz, minister of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Burial will follow in Rohnerville Masonic Cemetery.
