Services for Mrs. Covington will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 2132 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mel Wines officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Covington was a native of Rock Hill and the daughter of the late W. T. and Mattie Barry Williams. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where she was a part-time secretary and active in the church choir and Women of the Church. Mrs. Covington graduated College of Commerce, finishing at the top of her class. She was retired from Pediatric Associates and formerly worked at Northwestern High School and Sullivan Middle School. She served as a Pink Lady at Piedmont Medical Center. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Covington was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Jean Simril, Nancy Williams, Eva Barnes and Linda Rhea.
Mrs. Covington is survived by her husband, James M. Covington Sr. of the home; her sons, James Covington, Jr. (Vicki) and Johnny Covington (Susan), all of Rock Hill; her daughters, Jill Watts (Chris) and Julie Templeton (Jade), all of Rock Hill; her brothers, Tommy Williams of Rock Hill and Sammy Williams of Paw Creek, N.C.; and her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the gym and other times at the home.
