John E. Fix was born in Darien, Clark County, Oct. 21, 1853, and died at his home in Martinsville, Ill. March 28, 1913. He was married to Mary E. Dick Nov. 28, 1880.

To this union were born four children. The oldest, William and Pearl, were twins and now have families of their own. The next, Ott, died in infancy. The youngest, LeRoy is at home with his mother. Beside the children, there are left to mourn his sudden death, his wife, aged mother, three brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Brother Fix was converted and joined the M.E. Church at St. Paul, in 1899 under the pastorate of Rev. Watles Mitchell, and from that time he has been faithful to Christ and the church. Two years of this time he was superintendent of the St. Paul Sunday school in which capacity he served faithfully and well. He also taught the ladies Bible class one year in Martinsville. During the revival this winter Brother Fix gave his testimony for Christ and his power to save, a number of times. We rejoice to know that although the call came suddenly and without warning, yet he was ready to go on before and we shall see him in the morning. Thus has gone to his reward a kind husband, a loving father, a true friend and a faithful citizen.

The Men's and Women's Sunday school classed met in the church Sunday morning, March 30, and marched in a body to the family residence, where Rev. J.A. Stout conducted a short service. Rev. J. S. Tharp conducted the funeral service at the Wesley Chapel, M. E. Church in the afternoon. Interment in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
