Jacob came to Egg Harbor City as a carpenter about 1860. From what is known, he lived in the 400-block of St. Louis Avenue and in the 1870s his principal occupation became undertaker, as noted in the 1880 US Census.

The son of John and Charlotte Natter, the family primarily came from Bavaria, Germany.

Jacob has no memorial stone. He was interred 17APR1900.
