Ruby Irene Herman, 79, of Suttons Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Tendercare Birchwood. Ruby was born July 19, 1931, in Bingham Township, the daughter of Howard Clark and Rosabel (Steimel) Clark. On Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, she married Lawrence Joseph Herman, who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2005. Ruby was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She loved her children and especially her grandchildren. She did excellent crocheting and needlepoint work. She had a real green thumb; tending to her garden and canning the harvest was a special treat for the family. Ruby was tough to beat at euchre, a game she loved and excelled at her entire life. Ruby is survived by two daughters, Louann Dennis and Gloria (Charles) Kitterman; five sons, Lawrence Jr. (Denise), Ricky (Elaine), Timothy, Mark and Kenneth (Kelly) Herman; two brothers Gerald and Jim Clark; three sisters, Margaret Herman, Mary Herman and Dorothy Egeler; 16 grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and her loving dog, Little Bit. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence; three brothers, Howard, Richard and Charlie Clark; and son-in-law, Richard Dennis.
