Samuel E. Collins, of the Holly Springs Community of Spartanburg County, SC died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1955, at 11:30 a.m. at his residence on Inman, SC Route #3 after a lenghty illness. Native and lifelong resident of Holly Springs Community, SC and son of William Pinckney and Elizabeth Hempley Collins and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He was twice married, first to Miss Nannie Jane Cothran Collins and second to Maude Reid Collins. Survivors included: his second wife, seven daughter, two sons, a brother, four sisters, 37 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were hel 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 1955 at Holston Creek Baptist Church with interment in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. He was 80 years of age at his demise.
