Chapple D. Curington
Mr. Chapple D. Curington of Enterprise, AL passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the family residence. He was 89.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, June 18 in the Sorrells Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donnie Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in the Enterprise City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made to Enterprise City Cemetery, P.O. Box 310075, Enterprise, AL 36331.

Mr. Curington was born April 9, 1920 in Coffee County just outside of Enterprise to the late Claude Deleon and Elmer Owen (Daisy) McDaniel Curington. He was a successful businessman and farmer. He owned and operated his logging and lumber business and also owned a restaurant in Enterprise, Chapple's Cafe. In 1977, he was the peanut club winner, producing two tons per acre. He was a cattleman for over 50 years and had experience in real estate.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Devonia Henderson Curington; two brothers, Wyatt and M.C. Curington; a sister, Jeanell Beane.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruby Kate Scott Curington; two children: Brenda Byrd (Halpin) and Scott Curington (Kim); six grandchildren: Christi Riley, Brent Byrd (April), Emily Burrow (Scott), Leslie Ryals (Ben), all of Enterprise, Chapple Krutchen and Caitlin Elizabeth Curington, both of Apollo Beach, FL; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Byrd Curington, Enterprise, Voncile Henderson Martin, Panama City, FL; three nieces: Jennifer Hollis and Sylvia Pope, both of Enterprise, Patricia Swarts, Cisco, IL; four great-grandchildren: Hunter Byrd, Anna Burrow, Tyler Byrd, Owen Burrow, all of Enterprise.
