Sterling William Bailey, aged 75, of 350 1/2 West LaSalle avenue, died at 3:10 a.m. today in his residence after an illness of two years. He was born in Niles, Mich., Sept. 23, 1870, and spent his entire life in this community. His wife, Lily, died Dec. 22, 1937. Mr. Bailey was formerly the owner of Bailey Transfer & Storage company. Surviving are nine nieces and nephews: a brother, George, Niles; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Crumb and Mrs. Joseph Gilbert, both of Niles, and Mrs. George Lewis, Coloma, Mich. Friends may call in the Orvis funeral home.

Funeral rites for Sterling William Bailey, 350 1/2 West LaSalle avenue, will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic church by Rev. Frank C. Brown, C.S.C., pastor. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery. Friends are being received in the Orvis funeral home.

Sterling William BAILEY was born on Sept. 23, 1870 in Cass County, Michigan to Byron S BAILEY and Susan Ann KNAPP. He married Lillian 'Lillie' G WILLIAMS, daughter of C. P. WILLIAMS and Anna MARTINDALE on November 4, 1892 in Coloma, Kalamazoo, Michigan. They had no children. He had his own business, Bailey Transfer and Storage out of South Bend, Indiana. Sterling died on July 13, 1946 of cancer.
