Mrs. Rachel Fossett peacefully passed to her long rest Thursday morning, February 9th, at 4:10 o'clock. She was 70 years of age last November. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Fossett had been a resident of Caldwell for many years, and a widow for the last twelve years. She was first a mother and her children, who were carefully nurtured, do honor to the mother love and education. She was always an active worker in the church affairs, and an earnest worker in temperance movements. She was well known and most highly esteemed by all Caldwell people. The funeral was delayed that her children living at a distance might be able to attend.

Rachel Fossett.
Grandma Fossett passed away Thursday, February 9, at 4:10 a.m. after an illness of a week. She was not thought to be seriously sick until the last few hours. Those near her bedside during the last moments were deeply impressed with the serenity and peace that filled the death chamber. There was a glad embracing of the Father and His faithful handmaiden.

Rachel Feist was born in Borendorf, Germany, November 17, 1840. When 13 years of age she came to America with her parents and settled in Wisconsin. On July 25, 1858, she was united in marriage to John Fossett in the city of Fon du Lac, of that state. To this union were born eleven children, six of whom are now living. They are Frank J. Fossett, of Bedford City, Virginia; Mrs. Bertha E. Berry, of Colorado Springs, Colorado: Mrs. Dora Anna Gibson, of Ridgway, Colorado; C.S. Fossett, of this city; Winfred Lee Fossett, of Wellington; and Mrs. Nellie Mae Ebright, of Sawyer, Kansas.

Grandma Fossett was raised in the German Lutheran church. In her 25th year she was converted and joined the Methodist church and through all her life of 70 years she lived a Godly and holy life. To know her life and history was to look into the life of a rare soul. For her "to live was Christ; to die was gain." She knew how to be abased and how to abound. She lived her three score years and ten - "and she was not, for God took her."

She has been a resident of Caldwell for the past 34 years. she was well known and the church and community will mourn her loss.

Her funeral was preached at the Methodist church of this city, by Rev. H.W. Cummings, of Sylvia, Kansas, her former pastor, Sunday, February 12, at 2 p.m. o'clock, after which her mortal remains were laid away in the Caldwell cemetery.
