Meldrum was the son of Edward and Clara (Zimmer)Anklam, he was the youngest child out of four children. A baby brother Clarence died in 1912.
Meldrum married Nellie Bachman in 1939 and they had three children Edward, Carol and Joann.
Surviving him are his wife; son Edward; daughter Carol; two brothers Arthur and Calvin.
Preceding him in death were his parents and infant daughter Joann(1944).
