The death of Mrs. Martha Jane Andrus, one of the oldest residents of Perry, took place at her home in Covington street on Thursday afternoon after an illness of several weeks with pneumonia. She was the daughter of Alton Palmer and Harriet Beardsley and was born in Perry about 80 years ago. Her husband was David Andrus who has been dead about 7 years. She leaves no relatives in Perry. The funeral was held from the late home on Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. H. A. Waite, pastor of the Baptist church officiating. Burial was made in Hope cemetery.

Mrs. Martha Jane Andrus

Martha Jane Andrus of Perry, widow of David Andrus, died Thursday afternoon last, after a brief illness of pneumonia. She was the daughter of Alton Palmer and Harriet Beardsley. Mrs. Andrus was one of the pioneers of that town where she had always lived. Her husband, David Andrus, was the operator and owner of the Andrus lumber mill in Perry for about fifty years.

The funeral was held from her late home on Saturday afternoon.
