Joseph C. Baronner, 84, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home since Sept. 1996, died Fri. July 3, 1998 at Van Zandt Medical Center.

He was b. Oct. 16, 1913, in Altoona, the son of Charles and Grace (Burkhart) Baronner. He married Dorothy G. (Hughes) Wilt.

Mr. Baronner retired as a welder from Conrail's Hollidaysburg Car Shop in 1978.

He was a World War II Army veteran and served as a diesel mechanic from Dec. 1942 to Jan. 1946 with the Amphibian Engineers. He participated in the New Guinea Southern Phillipines Liberation and received the following decorations and citations: American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Phillipines Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving is his wife and a stepson, Philip E. Wilt of Altoona.

Also surviving are 11 nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Vincent J. GOOD Funeral Parlor, Altoona
