Milton "Pete" Craigmile, 83, of Hallock, Minnesota was called home to the Lord Friday evening, May 21, 2010 at the Kittson Memorial Hospital in Hallock.
Pete was born November 15, 1927 at Hallock to Mark and Hilma (Wass) Craigmile. He grew up on the family farm south of town and attended country school. Pete farmed with his family as a teenager until April of 1945 when he entered the U.S. Army. On December 19th, 1948 he married Mary "Joan" Blide at her parents home near Hallock. They farmed until Pete started working for the state highway department. He retired in 1989 after 28 years of service.
He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Hallock American Legion, the Two River 4-H Club as a member and club leader and played on the Two River Club's softball team that won several championships. Besides hunting, fishing and watching sporting events live and on television, he spent the summers in his garden and shared what he had grown with the community. Pete and Joan raised their family on a farmstead southeast of Hallock and several years ago moved to the Blide Century Farmstead. Our devoted and beloved "Pete" will be missed by his family and friends.
Family members include his wife, Joan; sons, Russ (Anne), Alexandria and Tom (Donna), East Grand Forks; a daughter, Carol (Jack) Bailey, Helena, MT; grandchildren, Jason Bailey, Jennifer McMillan, Marc and Reid Craigmile, Brett and Rachelle Craigmile; great grandchildren, Megan and Brandon McMillan, Cannon and Sally Craigmile; brothers, Glenn (Norma), Dilworth, MN, Neil (Jean), San Antonio, TX and Don (Clarice), Hallock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delia Fowler.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 27th, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock.
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Austin-Hughes Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
