Leonard Earnest Bagaas, the son of the late Anders and Rose (Benson) Bagaas, was born on Nov. 12, 1943, at Hallock, Minnesota. He attended school and grew to manhood in Wanger Township of Marshall County, near Florian, and attended Karlstad High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Leonard served with the U.S. Army from April of 1965 until April of 1967, serving in Okinawa. Following discharge, he worked for Continental Telephone Co. at Wheaton, Minnesota, for five years. He has resided at Donaldson for the past 40 years and worked as a farm laborer in the area. He enjoyed wood working as a hobby. Leonard had been in failing health and passed away at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, on Sunday afternoon, July 18, 2010, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 6 days.

He is survived by a daughter: Carrie (Mark) Prierce, of Fargo; two step-daughters and two step-sons; several grandchildren; a sister: Wuffy Evans, of Arlington, Washington; two brothers: Arvid (Pat) Bagaas, of Karlstad and Duane Bagaas, of Seattle, Washington; two aunts: Edythe Grandstrand, of Stephen and Ruby Benson, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota; good friends: James and Eric Larson, of Donaldson; in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and a sister at birth.
