Gloria Florence Bedard, 83, died peacefully March 15, 2011 at her home in Hallock, Minnesota.

Gloria was born to Arthur and Grace (Smith) Haattvedt in Hallock on August 22, 1927. She grew up on the family farm attending her first 8 years of school in Halma and graduating with honors from Karlstad High School in 1945. Gloria was baptized and confirmed in Eidsvold Lutheran Church of Halma. On June 20, 1948 she married Walter Leslie Bedard at Eidsvold Lutheran Church. Gloria and Walter were married for 55 years until his death in 2003, during which time they were strong role models and taught valuable lessens in the raising of 14 children, many precious grand and great grandchildren.

Gloria worked for Kittson Memorial Nursing Home for 29 years retiring in 1993. In addition to her membership with First Presbyterian Church, she was very active with the senior citizens community in Hallock and the surrounding area. Gloria was a very proud lady whose energy and independence inspired her family and many wonderful friends. Her grandchildren will always value the unique parties and holiday celebrations Grandma was so creative in providing for them.

Gloria is survived by her sisters, Ella Jerome, Hallock and Esther Paulson, Karlstad; 14 children, Wayne (Glenda), Moundsview, MN, Wallace (Shelley), Danbury, WI, Wanda (Wayne) Homstad, Hallock, Glenda (Gary) Carlson, Karlstad, MN, Bill (Sharron), Lancaster, MN, Terry (Sandy), Fergus Falls, MN, Crystal Nelson, Shorewood, IL, Jon (Joann), Lancaster, Joel (Terry), Mora, MN, Pat (Fay), Hallock, Dwight, Lake Bronson, MN, Sara (Tim) Shockley, Bemidji, MN, Kim (Scot) Taylor, Forrest Lake, MN, and Leslie, Big Fork, MN; 35 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce; two grandsons, Kyle (Joel Bedard) and Jacob (Marsha and Jeff Nussbaumer); and her devoted husband, Walter.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, March 20th, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Hallock.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.

Visitation will be at the Austin Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
