CAVE SPRING - Douglas Hamilton Miller, 76, of 325 Randal Road died Wednesday morning in a Rome health-care center after a long illness.
Mr. Miller was born in Floyd County on April 19, 1912, son of the late Augustas Miller and Izela Henry Miller. Before retirement, he was employed by West-Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Lindale and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church.
For many years before his illness, he was in charge of the New Prospect Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, the former Connie Carver; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Bernhart, Decatur; three sons, Hoyt Miller, Atlanta, D. H. Miller Jr., Decatur, and Gordon Miller, Cave Spring; a sister, Mrs. Vera Thornton, Decatur; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Stager and the Rev. Bobby Stamey officiating. Interment will be at New Prospect Cemetery.
