Dearest daughter of MICHAEL TIERNEY (born in Canada) and Mary nee Farmer (born in Pennsylvania). Ellen Josephine Tierney-Urban- Diegels' birth record remains sealed because she was adopted by ANTHONY JEROME URBAN.

Beloved wife of Theodore Robert Diegel. Born in Wapakoneta, Auglaize county Ohio .Theodore was the son of John Henry Diegel and Elizabeth Ernsthausen Diegel.

************ELLEN J.TIERNEY was not told she was adopted until she needed to get her baptismal certificate for her marriage, she also had to get her confirmation documents, that is when she was told.

Mother of five children.

Now grandmother of over 150,great grandmother of over 175.Born to Michael Tierney who was born in Toronto York county Canada son of James TIERNEY OF IRELAND, and LAVANI nee BRENNAN TIERNEY also of Ireland., and mother was Mary Farmer of Penn.Daughter of JOHN FARMER OF PENNSYLVANIA and REBECCA nee BONSALL-MANLY-MANLEY also of Pennsylvania.

Sometime before 1899 she was adopted by Anthony Jerome Urban also buried here at Holy Cross.Her real father Michael James Tierney is now connected to her.

On April 24, 1917 she married Theodore Robert Diegel at Holy Redeemer Church Detroit Wayne county MI.

Together Eleen Josephine and Theodore had three daughters and two sons.

In a flu,that hit Detroit in 1925,her husband died suddenly,she went on with grit and determination to raise her 5 children by herself. During the great depression, she held two jobs, working at Amos School on Military ,and baby-sitting.She was always quoted as saying iron those napkins,tablecloths, without starch.

She was an active member of the Rosary Society at Holy Redeemer Church.

In November of 1959 after seeing 4 of her 5 children married she passed away .
