Paul served in the United States military during World War I. After the war, he married Ada Marie Borman on 28 Dec 1919 in Eldred, Illinois. They were the parents of 6 children, although 2 died in infancy.
Paul was a farmer and orchardist in Jersey County, Illinois. He retired from that in 1953. Ada was a licensed practical nurse.
Paul was active in Calhoun County politics and served as a county commisioner for 9 years before becoming the county treasurer. He was an active member of the American Legion. He served as chairman of the Calhoun polio chapter, director of the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. He was also active in church and other civic activities.
At the time of his death at the Illinois Veterans Home, Paul was 98 years, 10 months and 2 days old.
He was survived by his wife, Ada; 2 daughters; 1 son; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Marcus "Bud" Aderton of Lubbock, Texas; and 1 sister, Mildred "Midge" Nelson of Jerseyville, Illinois.
In addition to his infant daughters, Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father; and 1 son, Paul L. "Pete" Aderton.
Visitation was held at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin on 27 Dec 1992. Calhoun Masonic Lodge 792 performed rites at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. the following morning at Hardin Presbyterian Church. Military rites took place graveside and were performed by Hardin American Legion Post 636.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the new building fund of the church.
Paul's wife, Ada, passed away in 1994 and was buried next to him.
