IRIS JUNE BUCHTEL
Iris June Buchtel, 84 of Elmer, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening, June 6, 2009 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born Mar. 29, 1925 in Round Knob, Illinois, she was the daughter of George Herbert and Bertha Alwilda (Davison) Griffin. On Apr. 20, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Joe Buchtel, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Leota Paulsen, Jenrose Billotte and Alwilda Dennis.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Alma Buchtel; and other relatives.
Iris was a very special lady who was loved by her many special friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Having lived most of her life in the Elmer community, she attended and graduated from Elmer High School. Iris worked as a cook for the Santa Fe Railroad and was well-known for her good cooking and baking, especially for her pies. Iris loved children and did alot of babysitting throughout the years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America in La Plata and was a member of the Elmer Assembly of God Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta, Missouri. Burial will be in the Elmer Cemetery in Elmer, Missouri following the ceremony.
