Gasper Alessi, of Wishaw, passed away July 10th, at the age of 72 years. Death came instantly as a result of heart failure. Mr. Alessi was a well known miner of Wishaw, having lived in that community for 15 years. He was an active member of the U.M.W. of A. and on the day of his funeral service, which was held in the Reynoldsville Catholic church Saturday, seventy-seven cars, carrying and relatives, followed his casket to the grave, making one of the largest funeral processions ever seen in the town. The Reynoldsville band marched at the head of the procession, playing a dirge. The floral display was large.

Mr. Alessi was married to Josephine Geretana in Sicily, Italy, 48 years ago, and seven children were born, all of whom survive, as follows: Mike,of Wishaw; John,of Desire; Angelo,of Wishaw; Joe,of Eleanora; Charles, of Wishaw; Rosie Vetro, of Soldier and Thresa Alissi, of Soldier.
