ARKANSAS CITY - Kent M. Chesbro, 86, of Arkansas City, died Aug. 3, 1999, in Derby.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Rev. Guy Rendoff will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Winfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

A memorial has been established with American Cancer Research. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Chesbro was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Hillsdale, to Clarance and Gladys (Mader) Chesbro. As a young boy, he lived in various towns in Kansas and attended Wichita schools.

On July 14, 1932, he married Jessie F. DeVore in Miland. They made their home on the Magnolia Ranch near Arkansas City from 1943 to 1973. In 1973 they moved into Arkansas City and made their home. Mrs. Chesbro died in 1991.

Mr. Chesbro was a retired farmer and rancher and a life member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkansas City.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Bell, Derby.
