Mr. Bernhardt was a 1968 graduate of La Salle University. He was a member of the Municipal Bond Club of Philadelphia, the Vesper Club of Philadelphia and the Whitford Country Club.
Survivors: his wife, the former Cynthia Gilger; mother, Margaret Glisson Bernhardt; two sons, Kevin and Jonathan; two brothers, and two sisters.
