Stephen M. "Steve" Badura, 57, of Ashton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Steve was born on Aug. 21, 1955, at St. Paul, the son of Gerald P. and Shirley A. (Brouillette) Badura.

Steve was united in marriage to Bonnie M. Jonak on May 28, 1983, at Paplin.

Steve is survived by: wife, Bonnie Badura of Ashton; mother, Shirley Badura of Omaha; sons and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Sarah Badura of Omaha and Lucas Badura of Ashton; daughters, Samantha Badura of Omaha, Brittney Badura of Kearney, Shayla Badura of Crete and Heather Badura and her friend, John Gallaway of Ashton; sister, Kim Mostek of Omaha; brother, Randy Badura of Nebraska City and grandchildren, Nadia, Trey, Prestyn, Brooke, Kira, Leyton and Braxton.

Steve grew up in Ashton where he attended St. Francis Parochial School and graduated from Loup City High School in 1973. He then attended UN-L for several years.

In 1976, he became a mail carrier in Grand Island and also worked at the family business, Badura's Store in Ashton.

Steve and Bonnie lived their entire married life in Ashton. He was still working as a mail carrier in Grand Island at the time of his death. He was also a longtime coach, referee and umpire in the area and truly loved selling fireworks in Ashton, ever since he was 12 years old.

Steve was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton and was a current school board member for Loup City Public Schools, having served for 10 plus years.

Steve loved sports, antiques, collectibles, history, traveling, Hallmark movies, Christmas Shows and Christmas lights. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Steve was preceded in death by: father.

Inurnment was in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Ashton, NE.
