Henry V. “Hank” Dembowski, 97, of Loup City, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City, with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 48 of Loup City. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Dembowski was born on June 7, 1917, at Loup City, the son of Roman and Mary (Maciejewski) Dembowski.

He is survived by one sister, Victoria Derchowski of Loup City; and several cousins.

Hank grew up on the family farm northeast of Loup City and attended District No. 41 Sherman County rural school and farmed with his family.

He served in the United States Army from Feb. 10, 1941 to Oct. 17, 1945 during World War II, having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

For many years he and his brother Eddie farmed the home place. In 1994, he and Eddie retired and moved into Loup City. Hank served as a weather reporter in Loup City for over 50 years and also owned and operated Hanks Radio & TV Repair for a number of years.

Hank had resided at Rose Lane Home since March 2007.

He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church of Loup City. He was a very active member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 5455 and Fourth Degree St. Josaphat's Assembly No. 1712, both of Loup City. He was also a member of American Legion Post 48 and V.F.W. Post 7027, both also of Loup City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Clarence Dembowski; and brothers, Louie and Eddie Dembowski.
