KILLED BY INDIANS in his 54th year. "Early Vital Records of Massachusetts (Haverhill Deaths)"

The son of Robert & Elizabeth (Palmer) Ayer, he was a Capt. and a Deacon of Haverhill. He took the oath of fidelity in Nov., 1677, was a freeman May, 1683, and was the chief selectman of the town. On Dec. 14, 1681 in Haverhill, he married Mary Johnson of Hampton, Mass.
He served in King Philip's War, Aug., 1676, and under Lieut. Benjamin Swett, June, 1676.
He was killed by the French and Indians in Queen Anne's War (1702–1713) when they attacked the town of Haverhill on Aug. 29, 1708. His estate was divided in 1715.
