Mrs. Janet Mitchell Reid, a resident of Elgin for nearly 30 years died at Sherman Hospital at 9:00 last evening.
Mrs. Reid was born March 2, 1835 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In 1871 she moved to Canada with her husband who died seven years later. In 1884 she came to Elgin and has resided here since that time.
About two months ago Mrs. Reid slipped and fell, fracturing her left hip. She was removed to Sherman Hospital, but never recovered from the effects of her fall. She was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons. Mrs. A. C. Barclay, Mrs. George H. Gilbert, James M. Reid, and David W. Reid of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and R. W. Reid of Woonsocket, R. I.
The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Barclay, 358 North Street saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. Charles L. Morgan will officiate. Burial will be at Bluff City.
