Leslie Leo Gaylord, Jr., 81, of Houston, passed away June 20, 2008. Leslie was born October 17, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas where he grew up, oldest son to Leslie L. Gaylord Sr. and Elsie Thurmond Gaylord. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. Gaylord started out as a jeweler in the San Antonio area. He was the former owner and operator of the original Pineforest Jewelry. He was also owner and operator, with his brother Thurmond, of the Federal Bowling Lanes among many things. He was a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge 1155 AF & AM where he served as a master mason and he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Shriner. He attended First Baptist of North Channel Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Judy Gaylord on Oct. of 2007. He is lovingly survived by daughter, Darla Riggs of Houston; by brother, Thurmond Gaylord of Houston; grand children, Dusti Riggs-Hopkins, Frank Riggs and Danny Riggs; as well as by great-grandchildren, Christopher Hopkins and Daniel Riggs; and by other extended family and a host of friends. Services celebrating his life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Durham officiating. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park East in Webster, Texas. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4- 8:00 pm. at Carter's.
