Isaac F. Brown was born in Henry County,
Illinois on September 22, 1835. During his
early childhood, his parents moved to Platte
County, Missouri, where he grew to
manhood.

In 1856, he came to Kansas and made a
settlement on a farm on Elm Creek, in
Marshall County, which became his home.
He married to Amanda Malvina Waller on
August 28, 1857, the daughter of James
Waller, a pioneer of Marshall County.

After their marriage, they moved to Missouri
where he served in the Home Guard during
the Civil War.

After this period he again established his
family on the farm on Elm Creek where
ten children were born to their union; five
of whom are living; C.E. Brown, Washington
Kansas, Mrs. Belle Grable, Frankfort, Kansas
Mrs. Nina Hazen, Herington, Kansas, Ms.
Inez Luce, Topeka, Kansas and Ernest E.
Brown, Flora, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren
and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Elm Creek Baptist
Church for more than fifty years.

He passed away on May 22, 1925 at 11:00
p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Belle
Grable, Frankfort, Kansas.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at
2:00 at the Presbyterian Church.

Burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery,
Vermillion, Kansas.
