Aviation Cadet Hill was only one week from receiving his Second Lieutenant commission when he was killed on a training flight aboard U.S. Army Air Corps AT-9 #41-12036, twenty-eight miles from Pine Springs, Arizona.

Aviation Cadet William A Hough also perished.

Despite an extensive search, the aircraft and the pilots' remains were not located and recovered until May, 1943.

He was the son of Howard J. and Viola Hill, from
Audubon, New Jersey.
