Son of William David (1851-1939) and Xantippi Saunders (Gill) (1866-1940) Bridgewater.

Married Bessie Catherine (Moore)(1904-) on November 17, 1919. They were the parents of two daughters, S. Hortense and Estelle M.

Obituary:
Mr. J.P. Bridgewater, 76, son of the late Mr. William David Bridgewater and Mrs. Tippie Sanders Gill Bridgewater, was born 25 Jul 1899 in Green Co. and departed this life at 3:25 am Fri 12 Dec 1975 at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at the time of his death. He united in marriage to Miss Bessie Moore 27 Nov 1919, who survives. To this union were born 2 daughters: Mrs. Henry Kessler and Mrs. L.C. Taylor, both of Greensburg. Mr. Bridgewater is also survived by Louisville; 2 granddaughters: Patsy Ann Burress and Martha Page Houk, both of Greensburg; 3 great grandchildren: Larry Brent Burress, Amanda Page Houk, and Ashley Page Burress, all of Greensburg. Funeral services were conducted at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home Sat. 13 Dec at 1 pm by Rev. James Evans. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cem. Pallbearers: Leon Paxton, Marshall Paxton, Boyce Hudson, Edmond Lowe, Hollis Burress, and Shively Coffey.
