Funeral services for Mrs. Carr, 88, of Purcell, were held at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry McConathy officiating. Mrs. Carr died at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Born the 2nd of 4 children of John Wesley and Lydia Jane (Barrick) O'Harro, she was reared in Washington and graduated from Washington High School.

She attended college at OK A&M for one year and then worked for the McClain Co. Court Clerk's Office where she issued marriage licenses.

On Nov. 12, 1940, she married Burl Wayne Carr, of Payne, in Washington. They resided out of state for many years before returning to the Purcell-Criner area in 1947. As a homemaker she reared their 4 children.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell, she was a resident at Wadley's Care Center for the past 7 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Burl, July 19, 1992; a son, Melvin Lynn Carr, in 1997; a brother, Howard O'Harro, and 2 sisters, Mayme Rye and Lelia Tolbert.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Shirley Ellis and Linda Swafford and 1 son, Earl Carr; a brother-in-law, Frank Tolbert; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons: Bob Ellis, Ricky and Gary Bell, Justin and Russell Carr and Mike Swafford.

Honorary pallbearers were: her grandsons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
